Pharmaceutical Honours Programmes

Extended Thesis (FABA-381)

A part of the honours programme is having 15 ECTS within your curriculum marked as honours-level by writing your bachelor thesis/doing a research project on an honours-level.

For CPS students, the mandatory course FA-CPS-380 (research project), is already 30 ECTS by default and is marked as an honours-level course, as all mandatory courses for CPS are. Therefore, this requirement is already met for CPS students, and there is no additional effort for this part to receive the HPPS certificate.

For Pharmacy students, however, this is not the case. All Pharmacy students usually have the choice between FA-BA380 (‘classic’ literature thesis, 7,5 ECTS) and FA-BA381 (research thesis, 15 ECTS), with a large majority choosing FA-BA380. For Pharmacy honours students, FA-BA381 is mandatory. By completing FA-BA381, a Pharmacy student will have FA-BA381 marked as honours-level and, with this, earns the requirements for having an honours-level thesis. Important to note is that the extra 7,5 ECTS by doing FA-BA381 fill up 7,5 ECTS from the elective space from a Pharmacy student. The Pharmacy honours student following FA-BA381 will therefore have 37,5 ECTS elective space.
